POSITION SUMMARY (includes, but is not limited to): The Telemetry Technician will provide responsible 24 hour cardiac monitoring of designated patients. These patients are located in all the adult areas of the hospital. The telemetry technician must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is appropriate to the patients served in his/her department. The telemetry technician must demonstrate knowledge arrhythmia interpretation, principles of growth and development over life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient medical status and functional abilities and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Completes a competency skills checklist upon hire and annually thereafter. They must be able to demonstrate computer literacy. The telemetry technician is to notify bio-med when a monitor is broken or malfunctioned. Request telemetry supplies such as patches, wires, batteries, and others. Relieve each other for breaks.
Education: High School graduate or GED with reading, writing, spelling, and math skills. Prefer prior exposure to biology, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology. Must be able to accurately interpret cardiac arrhythmia. Must be able to pass arrhythmia recognition exam by 90% or better (post job offer). License: None required
