HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Clinical Documentation Specialist (Registered Nurse) in Las Vegas, Nevada

POSITION SUMMARY (includes, but is not limited to): Responsible for concurrent review of the clinical documentation in the medical records to obtain the most accurate and complete physician documentation that appropriately supports the severity of patient illness, mortality statistics and proper reimbursement. Also, communicate with clinicians and physicians to ensure timely and accurate documentation and provide training and education as needed.

Effective written and verbal communications skills. Analytical skills. Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of age-specific needs and the elements of disease processes and related procedures. Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents. Coding skills with experience in ICD-9-CM and working knowledge of the AHA Coding Clinic (some training provided). Ability to work independently in a time oriented environment.


Education: Graduated from an accredited school of Nursing.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in nursing or other clinical area, coding, process improvement, or utilization review/case management in an acute-care facility is preferred.

Licensure: Current RN License. BSN preferred.
