TheEnvironmental Services Floor Technician, under the direction of the Director of Environmental Services is responsible for maintaining the hospital’s floor maintenance program. Duties will include but are not exclusive to stripping, waxing, scrubbing, dust mopping, mopping, and burnishing hard floors as well as vacuuming, spotting, refreshing, extracting, bonneting and cleaning carpeting and upholstered furniture. TheFloor Technicianwill be responsible for maintaining the hospital’s hard floor surfaces in a clean and glossy manner, the carpeted floor surfaces and the upholstered furniture in a clean and stain free manner. TheFloor Technicianwill in addition to his/her floor duties be responsible for Trash Tech and Cleaning Tech I duties as needed. The Floor Technician is responsible for ensuring that all requests from the patients, families, coworkers, and hospital staff are fulfilled to the satisfaction of the requestor. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of service.


Floor Technician Responsibilities

  1. Completes tasks within scheduled time
  2. Utilizes the correct chemicals according to procedure
  3. Uses and maintains equipment properly, and is responsible for equipment cleanliness
  4. Replenishes supplies as needed
  5. Strip, wax, scrub, dust mop, mop, and burnish hard floors
  6. Vacuum, spot, refresh, extract, bonnet carpet and upholstered furniture
  7. Hard surface floors are to be maintained with a clean glossy shine
  8. Carpeted floors and upholstered furniture are to be maintained in a clean and spot free manner
  9. Performs job duties of the Trash Technician and Cleaning Associate when needed
  10. Maintains quality standards when performing job duties
  11. Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
  12. Performs all other duties as assigned
  13. Performs duties in a safe, functional and effective manner that reduces hazards and risks, prevents accidents and injuries and maintains safe conditions by adhering to established safety standards
  14. Reduces risk of acquiring or transmitting infection by learning and adhering to the established policy and procedure and communicating immediately all unsatisfactory incidents to the supervisor
  15. The Technician is competent and responsible in preventing contamination and the transfer of infection

EDUCATION: * A High School Diploma/GED is preferred

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: * Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) is preferred

EXPERIENCE: * At least 6 months experience in Floor Maintenance is required * Over 1 year experience in Floor Maintenance is preferred
