POSITION SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: DIRECT REPORTS: LOCATION: Content Specialist None Indianapolis, IN Wabash Valley Power Association (WVPA) is a not-for-profit electric cooperative and wholesale provider of electricity to our owner-members. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, we were created out of the need for reliable, affordable electricity in Americas heartland. Our members are 23 electric distribution cooperatives (which makes us a co-op of co- ops), and their members include over 300,000 homes, businesses and farms in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. As a not-for- profit co-op, our members are our owners, so we arent influenced by shareholders and old practices. To learn more about us, visit RESPONSIBILITIES: This position requires a prolific and talented content creator that writes and produces various types of content such as quarterly newsletters, white papers, educational articles, case studies, ad copy, video scripts, blog posts, and social media content. The content specialist will support the communications needs of Wabash Valley Power, as well as our 23 distribution co-op communicators. The Content Specialist will be responsible for: Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing Recommend and generate story ideas, interview businesses and internal stakeholders to write and produce Economic Development email and print newsletter Recommend and generate story ideas to write and produce a Wabash Valley Power email and print newsletter Write content per WVPAs content strategy for a variety of channels: website, fact sheets, blog posts, white papers, social media and more. Write monthly articles for the Electric Consumer as directed by the Communication Managers content strategy and editorial calendar Write articles as needed for use by Co-op Communicators Assist the Communications Manager in the creation of communication toolkits, customized to the co-ops communication channels and specifications Page 1 Position Specification Content Specialist Identify opportunities to interview business owners to supplement case studies for, our energy efficiency information and rebate website Support the communication teams content library by creating content, managing a library of articles, photos and images Assist in the development of infographics, visual projects, video scripts Recommend and pitch story ideas to the Communications Manager, maintain updated media list, and distribute finalized press releases. In conjunction with the Communication Manager and Marketing Coordinator, support social media channels Ability to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to help the team as needed Assist communications team in maintaining brand standards through tone, voice, visuals, and brand point of view 80% writing, 10% design, 10% Other duties as assigned KEY COMPETENCIES: Excellent communication skills: Able to clearly present information through the spoken or written word; reads and interprets complex information; conveys information effectively; listens well. Excellent relationship building skills: Able to build relationships with internal and external audiences that aid in story and content development. Strong planning ability: Able to manage multiple projects; determines project urgency in a meaningful and practical way; organizes and schedules people and tasks. Customer focused: Able to demonstrate a high level of service delivery; does what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction; deals with service failures and prioritizes customer needs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing Minimum 3 years of experience in a writing intensive environment, such as content marketing or public relations Familiarity with AP Style writing standards In-depth knowledge of WordPress and social media channels Experience in Adobe Creative Suite Strong knowledge of digital marketing and print best practices Please submit 3 to 5 writing samples of various types.
