Summary: The Kinship Circles Program Coordinator (“Coordinator”) is responsible for maintaining and facilitating monthly support groups for rural immigrant women in the Northeast communities of Dutchess County. The Coordinator will work with various agencies, government offices and public institutions to provide speakers for the groups as requested. The Coordinator is responsible for conducting Leadership Training Workshops for individuals seeking to develop Leadership skills to become community leaders. These groups meet in the day and evening to accommodate work schedules. This position also provides direct case management services to the underprivileged and the disenfranchised through advocacy, information and referral, crisis intervention services and short term case management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create marketing materials to recruit individuals to participate in Kinship Circles.

  • Plan and execute monthly Kinship Groups in multiple locations and times according to the needs of the group.

  • Coordinate scheduling of CCCSDC Staff, community representatives and Nutrition Consultant for presentations and consultations as required by contract.

  • Conduct an individual assessment for each member of personal goals to be achieved during the program year.

  • Utilize an assessment tool to measure knowledge gained, and changes in behavior, since becoming a member of the group.

  • Complete statistical and program contract reports.

  • Attend CCCSDC Monthly Staff meetings and other meetings in the Northeast when assigned.

  • Provide crisis intervention to individuals and families facing emergencies around food, shelter, medical needs, spouse abuse, and any concrete need as presented by client.

  • Conduct a thorough needs assessment and develop a service plan to address identified concrete needs using a short-term intervention model.

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments of individual and family problems and follow up with referrals to Catholic Charities programs and/or clinics, and outside facilities as deemed appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain good communication with other programs and departments within the organization to facilitate inter-agency referrals.

  • Assist clients in applying for and receiving public and private benefits.

  • Maintain current and accurate documentation of services provided to clients.

  • Attend regular sessions with immediate supervisor.

  • Attend Agency’s meetings as well as any other agency-related activities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday – Friday. Additional hours some evenings and weekends are required to accommodate the group schedules.

Working conditions and physical demands required:

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to visit with clients at their home, when client is physically unable to meet with staff at our office due to a disability or serious health concerns.

  • Work from primary office; meet with Kinship groups at community partner locations in the Northeast Communities of Dutchess; occasional work outdoors and exposure to weather conditions.

  • Must be able to carry a laptop and lift up to 30 lbs.


Education and/or experience required:

Bachelor’s degree or, a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the social services field.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Bilingual, Spanish-English.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of Social Service delivery systems and County resources.

  • Good organizational, time-management and communication skills.

  • Individual must possess the ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Strong computer skills in MS Office: Excel and Word.

  • Strong writing skills.

  • Access to a car and valid driver’s license (mileage reimbursable).
