• Demonstrates clinical competency to practice in the Critical Care Services Scope of Care. • Manage day to day operations of assigned units, ensuring decisions, actions, and group performance contributes to the achievement of the unit, department and hospital’s goals and mission. • Communicates effectively with staff, peers, senior leader, internal and external customers. • Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve unit/departmental process. • Ensures staff orientation and competencies in units of practice. • Pursues own professional growth and development. • Maintains unit readiness for regulatory surveys. • Provides opportunity for employee development. • Assumes accountability for decisions and actions. • Promotes unit budgetary and management principles. • Contributes to the smooth operation of the Critical Care Services units. • Ensures staff practice within the policies and procedures of the units in which they work. • Serves as coordinator of all disciplines to ensure well coordinated patient care is provided. • Ensures Family Centered Care is provided in the department. • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. • Assumes 24/7 accountability for the units within Critical Care Services. • Provides direct nursing care, as needed, in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of healthcare organization. • Exhibits nursing characteristics of the Synergy Model as outlines in the Nursing Strategic Plan” Clinical Judgment/Advocacy/moral agency, Caring Practices, Collaboration, Systems thinking, Response to diversity, Clinical inquiry/innovator/evaluator, Facilitator of learning patient/family educator.


Required - 1. Will have knowledge of services areas for which accountable. 2. Must have customer service abilities including effective listening skills. 3. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. 4. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and /or equipment up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION Required - Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Preferred- BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN program.

LICENSURE Required- Current licensure as an RN in the state of Virginia. Required- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS. Preferred- Current certification in specialty field.

EXPERIENCE: Required: Two years experience as RN with demonstrated proficiency leadership and management skills. Required: Two years experience as an RN in a charge nurse role. Preferred- Previous management experience.
