Job Description

Jack Henry and Associates is seeking a Java Programmer to provide programming support for existing software enhancements. Support may be for a customer or internal organizations. The successful candidate will work with members of Jack Henry's AML team to develop and maintain their leading BSA product. The ideal candidate will be creative, analytical, and eager to take on responsibilities and learn new skills. They will work in a fast-paced and agile organization with a teamwork-oriented environment and have the opportunity to make a real impact. We are looking for a passionate individual with a desire to grow within JHA.


  • 5 years of progressive experience as a Programmer

  • 3 years of experience with Java programming including Java/J2EE, Spring Framework

  • 3 years of experience in working with relational databases and SQL, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle

  • Able to participate in on-call rotation to provide assistance to general support.

  • Able to work extended hours as business needs dictate.

  • Occasional overnight travel


  • Working Experience with unit testing frameworks and test driven development

  • Working Experience with Agile software development

  • Knowledge of current development and source code management tools (Git, SVN)

  • Experience with continuous integration tools including Jenkins, Puppet, Capistrano

  • Knowledge of data interchange formats such as XML and JSON

  • Hands on experience with Web server software such as Nginx and Apache

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to meet and exceed position requirements under minimal direction and supervision

  • Ability to operate professionally, effectively and ethically as an individual contributor and member of a team

  • Analytical, with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills

  • Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree


  • Analyze business requirements

  • Develops programming code for existing software enhancements.

  • Troubleshoots and debugs existing code.

  • Tests code and fixes to ensure quality.

  • Adhere to policies and procedures relating to Configuration Management

  • Provides user training and post implementation support as necessary

  • Develops conversion and system implementation plans; implements newly created code and fixes into existing software.

  • Provides programming support for various interfaces.

  • Keeps customers informed of all enhancements, troubleshooting, and fixes.

  • Creates all programming documentation.

  • Provide detailed status updates when needed.

  • Log accurate information into the time tracking system.

  • Continuously learn new tools and environments and acquire new skills to maintain and enhance job performance.

  • Mentors, trains, develops and provides support to less experienced co-workers.
