Philips Research Scientist in Haifa, Israel

The Research Scientist in the Detection Physics group in DMS Subsystem is responsible for all Physics and Image Quality aspects of CT detection systems. This includes: detector and detection components design, simulation and modeling, detection testing in the laboratory and on a CT scanner, algorithms aimed at improving IQ and removing artifacts, detection calibrations, requirements and specifications for vendors/HW/SW, transfer of image quality testing to manufacturing and support of customer sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Detection physics analysis, simulation, prototyping and modeling

  • Design and determine all detection parameters that are physics oriented

  • Development of detection calibrations and algorithms aimed at improving CT detection Image Quality

  • Image Quality verification for CT detection systems

  • Transfer to production, including final testing procedures

  • Solving detection IQ issues for install base

Education/Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • M.Sc. in Experimental Physics with at least 5 years of industrial experience, or Ph.D. in Experimental Physics, or has reached this level through other experience.

  • Strong system understanding- A must

  • Excellent analytical skills- A must

  • Strong Matlab knowledge & experience- Strong advantage

  • Proven simulation capabilities- Strong advantage

  • Background in X-ray and detection Physics - An advantage

  • Experience in medical imaging - An advantage

  • Geant, C/C++ - An advantage

  • Ability to conduct and lead industrial development and research activities in a technological domain

  • Fluent in English

  • Ability to work accurate & independently

  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a development group
