Submit application by November 4: Decatur County REMC 1430 W Main Street PO Box 46 Greensburg, IN 47240 Attn: HR Department Or Decatur County REMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer LINE SUPERINTENDENT DEFINITION A non-union position under the direction of the Operations Manager or his/her designee, coordinates and directs the work of electrical utility line personnel in construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems and performs other related work as required. Uses opportunities to develop member support, understanding and acceptance of the Operations Department activities as they pertain to the membership. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES Keeps time sheets and other records for him/herself. This position is subject to call-out on a 24 hour basis. Assists in supervision and dispatching during emergencies and supervises on call service watch crews. Assists in developing the annual Service Watch Schedule. Develop and promote the required adherence to all established safety rules, regulations, and practices. RESPONSIBILITES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES - Responsibilities and accountabilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Will assist in the supervision, training and evaluation of Operation Department personnel. Will continue to promote an accident free work environment while ensuring adherence to all safety rules and practices. Reads and interprets work orders, job tickets, sketches and other diagrams. Schedules work assignments for Operations personnel on a daily basis. Help in long-range plans for the Operations Department in terms of programs, personnel, facilities, equipment, and supplies for the construction, operations, maintenance, and service of the Decatur County REMC distribution system. Participates in studies for the continuous improvement of construction, maintenance, service, safety and training activities of the Operations Department. Makes annual budgetary suggestions to the Operations Manager. Oversees the securing of tools and their proper use, secures materials, and supplies as needed. Oversees the operation of the trucks assigned to Operations personnel along with the tool room. Reviews periodically functions and activities of the Operations Department and assists the Operations Manager in establishing the organization structure best suited to carry out the objectives of the Operations Department. Works with staff, coop members, residents and the general public; represents DCREMC in a courteous and professional manner. Performs other jobs and duties as directed by the Operations Manager. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Principles and practices of journeyman lineman level work in electrical and distributions systems. Materials, tools and methods used in electrical construction, installation and maintenance; transformer hook- ups and connections for overhead and underground distribution equipment. Basic electric theory and knowledge of OSHA Safety Rules and Best Practice Procedures. Trained in First Aid, CPR, pole top and bucket truck rescue and familiar with precautions to be used around high voltage equipment. Familiar with the National Electric Safety Code and willingness to continue to learn and attend schools that may be required. Proficient computer skills related to the job Responsible for seeing that routine maintenance of the trucks, trailers, and other equipment is completed. Including DOT pre trip inspections are completed as required. Ability to: Communicate effectively with employees and members over a broad spectrum and able to tolerate stress, and remain calm and efficient under pressure. Participate in DCREMC Safety Meetings and other training as required. Work unsupervised and must be punctual. Lead, direct, train, delegate, and instruct Operation personnel. Work outdoors in all kinds of weather. Submit reports and reviews to the Operations Manager as required. Assist in investigation on the job accidents. Read Work Orders, Job Tickets and other paper work required to complete the jobs. Know and apply the use of RUS specs and NESC for line construction. Think quickly and act effectively in emergencies. Perform responsibilities under all types of working conditions. Resolve member complaints regarding continuity of service. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Completion of a high voltage journeyman linesman apprenticeship with related work experience is required and proficiency with rubber gloving and working with hot sticks. In addition to the above, any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and ability are qualifying. Special Requirement include: Able to demonstrate proficiency and skill in working overhead and underground line work. Possess and maintain a valid Indiana CDL License. Willingness and ability to respond to after-hours emergency calls and other duties as required and assigned by the Operations Manager.
