The Internship offers valuable work experience directly related to your academic field of study or career goals. As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to pursue a successful career with the US Air Force upon completing your degree, certificate or diploma and meeting conversion eligibility requirements. However, it is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee you will be offered a permanent position.

WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: Students Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a qualifying educational program
This is a Term Position NTE 10-1-2020.
The primary purpose of this position is: To provide a student trainee who has been appointed to the Pathways Program with on-the-job training and guidance to further student technical development.
Performs selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of accounting and budgeting.
Working under the guidance of and in close association with senior personnel performs a variety of work assignments consisting of established, specific, and related tasks that have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic principles, concepts, and techniques of the occupational field.
Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects. Studies Air Force requirements for the projects and researches and studies the current body of precedents and technical knowledges. Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.
Assists senior personnel in determining the validity, feasibility, achievability, and efficiency of special studies, projects, and initiatives, and participates in planning the studies, projects, and initiatives.
Knowledge of basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices in the technical area of accounting and budgeting.
Skill in applying basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to perform student trainee assignments.
Ability to follow instructions and guidance to complete assigned tasks and communicate information to others in oral or written format.
Ability to analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather and interpret pertinent data, and apply established rules and procedures in order to recommend effective solutions.
Ability to learn and apply basic investigative techniques to accomplish work in the subject-matter field.
Ability to gather and analyze basic facts, information, and data, and draw conclusions.

To qualify for this position you must have completed 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree. An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university. For purposes of this standard, a period of student trainee work experience is the equivalent of 2 months (320 hours) of full-time work experience.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE*:*Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
You must be:
- Enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) from an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school
Enrolled or attending on at least a half-time basis as defined by the institution
Meet the qualification standards of the position

Interns may work part-time or full-time schedules
Interns may beconsidered for noncompetitive conversion to a term or permanent appointment within 120 days of completion of educational program requirements, if they meet the following:
Successful completion of academic course of study, degree, diploma, etc.
Completion of a minimum of 640 hours of work experience under the Internship Program
Meet the OPM Qualification requirements for the position the intern may be converted to
Maintain acceptable performance
It is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee the agency will offer conversion.
Incentives: Recruitment and/or retention incentives may or may not be used.
Current Federal Civilian employees may apply for temporary and term positions and if selected, a break in service of more than three (3) calendar days may be required prior to appointment to the position.
