POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, scheduling and supervising housekeeping personnel assigned to Environmental Services. Directs and controls the performance of all daily activities to ensure a clean, orderly, and aesthetic condition in the assigned facility. Ensures that these activities are performed and documented in accordance with local coeds and legislation, JCAHO guidelines and requirements, and facility polices and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Under the direction of the Environmental Services Coordinator and Manager, supervises programs to maintain the cleanliness of the assigned facility. 2. Implements departmental goals, objectives and plans and adheres to departmental policies and procedures. 3. Monitors and ensures institutional compliance with federal, state and local safety, environmental protection, and fire protection regulations and standards, as well as accreditation requirements. 4. Instructs and trains employees in the use of new equipment and cleaning methods. 5. Ensures compliance of established standards and work procedures in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Del Sol Medical Center system. 6. Institutes and monitors work schedules to assure full coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Plans the daily activities of assigned personnel and periodically inspects jobs completed for quality of work and compliance with all environmental service standards. 7. Inspection and evaluation of the physical and aesthetic conditions of the assigned Del Sol Medical Center facility. Reports recommendations for areas that may require renovation and/or repair. 8. Report any and all unsafe conditions and ensure the immediate response to all calls for cleaning up of unsafe spills, etc. 9. Maintains documentation to include the following: · Records of patient rooms and critical areas that have been cleaned. · Miscellaneous records documenting code compliance and job completion. · Employee personnel, training records and attendance records. 10. Maintains an inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment. Responsible for preparation of requisitions for the replacement of depleted stock items and/or cleaning equipment beyond repair. 11. Assists the Environmental Services Coordinator in the orientation of new employees and provides continuing in-service training for existing personnel. 12. Ensures the effective flow of work, responds to special requests, and ensures the completion of preventive maintenance schedules. 13. Assists the Environmental Services coordinator by the preparation of periodic reports, the compliance to budget performance, and conducting departmental meetings. 14. Conducts documented surveys of all areas identify work standards, workflow, and environmental hazards and unsafe practices. 15. Responsible for daily and periodic reports of environmental service activities, works done, in progress, and scheduled. 16. Responsible for spot-checking work progress and activities on a regular basis. Responsibilities include the quality of the work performed, the timeliness of employees performing the work, and for ensuring compliance with minimum standards of quality and quantity. 17. Periodically inspects machines and equipment for preventive maintenance needs and accident prevention. 18. Trains and observes employees to ensure the proper use of prescribed safety equipment and safety procedures and techniques. 19. Aware of potential safety hazards of noise, toxic, and other hazards. 20. Assists in the compliance and review of the established system for reporting and investigating all incidents that involve illness and injury as a result of environmental services activities. Assists in the preparation of reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action. 21. Conforms to safety standards of the department by using proper safety equipment. Inspects departmental area (s) to ensure the provision for fire prevention equipment and protection and other safety and first aid supplies. 22. Performs individually or as a member of groups assigned tasks during emergencies such as fires, snow removal or disasters. 23. Performs additional duties as may be necessary to fulfill the hospital’s obligations to include participation in safety sub-committees. 24. Communicates, cooperates and performs related duties with other members of hospital staff in a courteous and efficient manner to achieve overall hospital goals and objectives. 25. Responds to requests from patients, physicians and visitors in a courteous and efficient manner, always demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. 26. Promotes positive customers service with internal and external customers. 27. Responsible for maintenance & training of bed tracking and Texpertise Linen computer system. 28. Other duties as assigned.
