Philips Software Reliability Expert in Eindhoven, Netherlands

Your challenge

You support various Global Philips innovation projects as a senior quality and reliability consultant, responsible for the software quality management within product creation projects.

These projects can cover every phase of the product life cycle, e.g. product development, launch and/or sustaining. The activities are mainly related to target setting, design in, proving and improving the software related quality and reliability aspects.

You will play a crucial role in building up global Software Reliability Expertise in Philips Innovation Services and render expertise to Philips globally. You will use your technical knowledge both software engineering and reliability along with proactive design and problem solving capabilities to connect to the engineering teams at various Philips innovation centers, to offer and execute consultancy and engineering support activities.

Your responsibilities

  • Build up a network for Software Reliability expert services at the various Philips innovation sites. Easily accessible to architects, developers, and managers at the various innovation sites.

  • Acquire software reliability consultancy activities

  • Directly help the software reliability engineers at the innovation sites in case of support questions in a result-driven, hands-on as well as coaching approach.

  • Sharing knowledge, encouraging and coaching Software Engineers so that they can fulfil their potential in bringing reliable products to the markets.

  • Build insight of a software reliability support request, collecting all necessary information and team up as needed with your colleagues (in a Global Product Quality & Reliability team).

  • Be a competent software reliability expert who has a good overview over the Reliability issues and challenges in the healthcare application domain

  • Bring Systems Engineering based software reliability engineering capabilities into the various Philips businesses and enable development of reliable Systems.

  • Provide design and improvement solutions for Software Reliability problems in Healthcare systems.

  • Provide Software Design for Reliability trainings to engineering teams

The Product Quality & Reliability team is part of Reliability Solutions service of Philips Innovation Services and is a dynamic group of more than 20 experts in the field of Reliability and Quality engineering. As part of the Q&R service, they have direct access to a broad range of product reliability test- and material analyze facilities and experts.

All are DfSS Green belt or Black Belt, active in designing in or improving reliability of complex, innovative products and processes for our customers from both internal Philips businesses as well as external companies, located all over the world.

We are looking for

  • You have a Master’s degree in either Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or Reliability Engineering; relevant PhD is a plus

  • At least 10 years’ as System Architect level experience in a professional product design environment involving development embedded software or operating systems with interests in Reliability aspects

  • Certification in Software Quality Engineering (CSQE) from ASQ or other bodies is desirable

  • At least 5 years of experience in creating operational profiles, software reliability requirement and metrics development, software development, integration and testing, traceability and management

  • Around 3-5 years’ experience with Software Reliability Engineering (SRE) models including growth models

  • Expert level experience in software fault tolerant design, fault prevention techniques implementation, design for testability methods, software FMEA and FTA

  • Expert level experience in code review techniques in a wide range of platforms, excellent problem solving skills and root cause analysis in Software. Able to read and understand multiple programming languages

  • Hands-on experience with both automated and manual software tests including tools from HP, IBM and Micro Focus, etc. is preferred

  • In-depth knowledge and a proven track record in implementing and applying concepts in the fields of designing in software reliability and problem solving techniques, preferably in the Healthcare industry

  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly and concisely summarize complex technical problems

  • Able to act as an entrepreneur with sufficient acquisition skills and be customer focused

  • You combine analytical and conceptual thinking, physical insight, system view, flexibility and a hands-on mentality to deliver sustainable results and creative solutions

  • You are a motivated self-propelling person, with determination to succeed and the ability to manage change

  • You are able to inspire people, lead and mobilize teams, with training and coaching capabilities

  • You are willing to travel regularly within Europe and up to a several weeks a year to visit other sites in US & Asia
