Your challenge

You will chair and lead a global ethics, regulatory, and privacy compliance team (ICBE) of Philips Research. The ICBE brings scientific and ethical study design expertise to the research project teams which validate prototypes and concepts before they are transferred to the Philips Businesses for product development and market release. Next to that you will drive improvement initiatives for this team.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordination of daily activities of ICBE staff and ICBE Secretariat

  • Alignment with disciplines involved in ICBE Assessment (Regulatory, Legal, Privacy, Medical Affairs, Brand Image, Ethics), including METCs & IRBS, Innovation Program Managers, Department Heads, Project Leaders, and Researcher(s)

  • Managing Financials (Budgeting, Charging out, Reporting)

  • Driving improvement in ways of working and stakeholder management

  • Management reporting (KPIs)

Your team

The Excellence team in Research manages various aspects of organizational excellence in the world-wide Research organization. This includes support of daily management of the Research Divisions, Continuous Improvement, Business Transformation, Quality and Risk Management, and Regulatory compliance. The activities touch all business processes in the highly innovative global multi-stakeholder environment of Philips Research.

We are looking for

·Management skills

  • Formulating and implementing a longer term vision/direction/strategy: steering the team to add maximum value to the business in the future. Content-wise inspire and contribute to cross-organizational strategy and project teams working on innovation themes and breakthroughs.

  • Constantly optimizing activity practices in the team;

  • Ensuring work done meets and/or exceeds stakeholder expectations;

·Communication Skills

  • Excellent command of English

  • Consulting and training skills in Research environments

·Background and knowledge

  • PhD in Life sciences, Bio-medical engineering or equivalent (or MSc. with the right level of research experience);

  • At least three years’ experience in medical device development, running clinical investigations with prototype devices;

  • Knowledge of Regulations and applicable legislation (High level), i.e. Regulatory affairs with FDA and EU-MDD, Legislation and regulations on clinical trials, HIPAA, EU-Data Protection regulations, FDA, CE medical device regulations, Privacy regulations.
