HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Sonographer IV - Labor & Delivery - PRN in Denver, Colorado

Schedule: PRN/Per Diem when primary Sonographer requests time off. Mon-Fri 8am-Noon. No nights, call or weekends.

Description Individual, under indirect & direct supervision, performs diagnostic high risk Obstetric ultrasound procedures, operates ultrasound equipment, and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies. Must be comfortable working independently under the supervision of a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician. Competency & efficiency in operating various ultrasound machines & probes to achieve high quality images for detailed fetal anatomic surveys, transvaginal ultrasounds (to include cervical measurements with cerclage in place), biophysical profiles, specialized Doppler studies, chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, & other procedure as needed. Positively reflects concern and consideration when interacting with patients, medical staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel supporting the Mission, Vision, and Values of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center. Is able to provide care to his/her assigned patients and assures a safe patient care environment. Maintains technical skills and is responsible for the use of equipment to minimize hazards and maximize patient safety. Secondary duties include clerical duties, receptionist, answering phones, scheduling patients, ordering supplies, stocking the department, maintaining files and general cleaning.

    Position Requirements:

  • License and Certification: Current OB ARDMS certification or ARDMS certification within 180 days of hire. Current BLS certification.

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited medical radiography program, or bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • Experience: Clinical rotation or 1 year of clinical experience. 2 years perinatal sonographic experience preferred. High risk experience preferred.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced knowledge if fetal abnormalities and their diagnosis. Proficient in performing detailed scans of fetal anatomical areas and identifying cross sectional fetal anatomy, distinguishing normal from abnormal. Familiar with the majority of ultrasound and/or NIVA procedures. High degree of manual, critical thinking skills, and dexterity skills necessary for operation of equipment and patient care.

  • Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
