Position Summary:Performs clerical and receptionist duties in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Rose Medical Center. The SecIV displays positive support for the mission and values of RMC. Performs these duties for all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric to insure the smooth flow of patients and families through the department. The SecIV is the resource person for unit secretaries and ED Techs who perform the duties listed above and trains the staff as needed for new procedures. The SecIV is responsible for the inventory and ordering process of all non-PAR supplies (medibuy, forms, non-stock pharmacy, and equipment) on a weekly basis in collaboration with the department director. The SecIV is the primary daily Kronos editor for the department. The SecIV is responsible for reconciling the daily log. The SecIV is responsible for the department’s statistical reports. Also, maintains the Logicare system to assure accurate statistics, correct phone numbers for referral MD’s. Insures maintenance of Specialty MD call schedule for hospital. The coordinator performs order entry of all lab and radiology for ED patients, insures adequate coordination of admissions between CAD, Admissions, and the Charge nurse. The SecIV is responsible for the ED’s daily reports. Manages a six line phone system as well as using the wireless system. The SecIV is responsible for organizing orientation of new staff to the unit secretary duties. Special projects: as deemed necessary by the manager
Licensure/Certification/Registration:Current BLS certification through American Heart Association required. Education:Graduate of Unit Secretary or medical terminology course preferred. Experience:Minimum 5 years acute care, unit Secretary experience required. Experience with computers (Meditech, Logicare, Outlook, Kronos) and medical terminology required. Inventory and ordering skills required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: *Demonstrates good organizational skills. Knowledge of medical and technical terms to accurately transcribe physician orders and complete requisitions. Displays appropriate judgement and problem solving skills. Demonstrates the ability to address customer and staff concerns. Communicates effectively, in a positive and professional manner with staff and physicians, EMS personnel, patients and families. Maintains current certifications and competencies and actively participates on the Unit Based Council, committees and staff meetings. Demonstrates strong computer skills. *Degree of Supervision Required:Under supervision of Registered Nurse and/or physician. *Orientation Period: *Minimum of two weeks contingent upon experience. Extensive orientation may be required and will be determined by the Director.
