The Electronics Systems (ES) Department is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Software Engineer, Android and IOS.

The primary responsibility of this role is to design, program and to test new phone side applications for highly connected Toyota Vehicles.

Reporting to the ES Manager, the person in this role will support the ES department's objective to create new multimedia applications using Bluetooth technologies.


  • Design new multimedia products such as radios, navigation systems, amplifiers and other multimedia communication modules

  • Create functional specifications for each radio supplier

  • Support and troubleshoot issues found during prototype/production builds

  • Interface with system component engineers such as cockpit electronics

  • Liaison between various Toyota Technical Center's Engineering staff

  • Follow all documented processes and development schedules

  • Support continuous improvement/update of process as needed during parts development

  • Ability to solve problems related to their assigned parts

A successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related engineering discipline

  • Knowledge of JSON and REST APIs

  • Experience developing Android or iOS applications and extensive low level Java and Objective-C programming

  • Ability to work effectively across functional groups

  • Experience with remote procedure calls or similar protocols

  • Familiarity with debuggers (GDB or LLDB)

A successful candidate may have:

  • Master’s degree within Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering disciplines

  • Experience with Cocoapods

  • Bluetooth or other wireless programming experience

  • Open source development experience

  • Server development and programming skills

  • Experience managing multiple suppliers for connected service products and the ability to work with multi-tier supplier structure
