The Accountant will record and perform analysis of transactions; identify accounting issues; coordinate and implement resolutions; work successfully and efficiently in a team environment; and provide accounting support to Senior Accountant.

Primary Responsibilities:

o Perform basic review; and apply GAAP for revenue recognition and compliance.

o Prepare and/or review a variety of routine and ad hoc financial reports for management and other internal customers, as needed.

o Prepare monthly recurring journal entries and adjusting journal entries, as needed.

o Review, document and develop as necessary operating procedures and internal control processes. Analyze current processes for added value and improved efficiency.

o Interface with other departments to gather information and to review and resolve outstanding accounting issues to ensure proper accounting. Recognize and analyze potential issues and/or conflicts and recommend corrective action to minimize issues.

o Respond to routine and non-routine inquires from field offices, other departments and colleagues.

o Research open accounts receivable and perform due diligence in conjunction with field and Senior Accountant to clear old balances. Research and resolve unidentified cash receipts.

o Review Data Integrity of commissionable transactional documentation in comparison to internal statistics and reporting.

o Work in unison with a Senior Accountant to accomplish a series of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual tasks.

o Evaluate and adhere to internal accounting policies and procedures.

o Handle special projects as assigned.


o Education - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university together with 2+ years experience in accounting. Prefer experience with revenue accounting, deferred compensation issues, and other transactions outside the course of core operations.

o Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and business documents and to respond to inquiries or complaints from internal customers or management.

o Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from groups of managers or other internal customers.

o Ability to effectively respond, verbally or in writing to sensitive issues, inquiries or complaints.

o Requires a high level of commitment to customer service with co-workers, managers and other internal customers.

o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

o Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or graphical form. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills. Knowledge of financial terms and principles.

o Ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences. Requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and openness to new ideas and procedures.

o Ability to perform multiple special requests, with varying deadlines, while maintaining routine workload demands and deadlines. Requires strong time management skills in an effort to re-prioritize assigned tasks at any moment.

o Ability to follow through, complete and accept ownership of all projects and tasks.

o Ability to work independently.

o Takes initiative to cover workload when other team members are absent.

o Computer literate. Very strong or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to work with financial systems; PeopleSoft experience a plus+. Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology preferred.
