It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933.

The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees.

General Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Grant Recruiter performs duties relating to the recruitment and enrollment of prospective TACT-NJPREP grant-eligible students. Provides outreach activities to recruit students and to raise their awareness of Union County College. Works with faculty, staff and other personnel to develop and implement recruitment strategies.

Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Represents the TACT-NJPREP Grant at community organizations and agencies throughout Union County and neighboring counties where constituents of the college gather in formal or informal groups

• Recruits students to participate in the TACT-NJPREP grant to assist them through the admission process to the college and develop a pathway to a career in healthcare

• Provides information to potential career students in regards to program requirements

• Assists with student intake and data tracking of all TACT-NJPREP students

• Assists the Grant Site Coordinator with the planning and implementing of recruitment strategies and activities in all aspects of student recruitment

• Develops and maintains contacts with community organizations and agencies to provide admissions and information services and to recruit students from these areas

• Coordinates outreach efforts with Continuing Education, Enrollment Services, Offices of Admissions/Registrar, Financial Aid, EOF and others

• Provides individualized and group information and counseling to prospective students regarding the college enrollment process

• Assists in the preparation and distribution of recruitment information and materials • Assists in organizing and conducting on- and off- campus programs designed to promote community awareness of the TACT-NJPREP, services and mission

• Performs follow-up activities on student inquiries, contacts, and interviews

• Provides prospective students with general financial aid, career and college admissions information

• Maintains literature racks, on and off campus

• Prepares reports on recruitment activities using MS-Word, MS-Excel and other software applications

• Creates and maintains mailing and telephone lists

• Maintains a recruitment calendar of activities for the year

• Other related duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree required.


• Strong customer services skills

• Some Student Recruitment Experience in the Health Care field preferred.

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, internet and email. Experience with integrated information systems, Microsoft Excel and MS Access is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

• Travel required.

Terms of Employment:

Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.

Grant Position: Position will be terminated upon expiration of grant funding.
