Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. General Description:

Supports the Lead Instructor with the management of all educational activities that support the goals of the Union County College Welding Program. In conjunction with appropriate CEWD staff members (Lead Welding Instructor), recruits staff, schedules classes, organizes work schedules, coordinates and evaluates the overall activities of the program. Reports to the Assistant Dean and CEWD administrative staff. Will have to work off campus.

Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as a liaison to instructional providers and employers.

• May communicate with other community organizations to ensure successful program delivery.

• Identifies new resources for the program.

• Supports and participates in student recruitment.

• Maintains Progress Reports on all students.

• Makes recommendations for the changes in curriculum if necessary.

• To work in a productive and cooperative manner with all CEWD staff and students.

• To be willing and able to travel to other campuses and CEWD/satellite locations upon request.

• Supports all classroom instruction.

• Maintains daily attendance.

• Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.

• Responsible for regular testing on all students and maintain records thereof.

• Assists Student Services with assessment and recruitment.

• Works with each student to ensure primary goal is met.

• Attends staff meetings.

• Works off site and work closely with employer partners.

• Other related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

• Valid and current welding certification required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• No less than two years of general welding experience.

• Relevant instructional experience or equivalent preferred.

• Prior experience with underserved populations a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

• Some travel required.

Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Mandatory overtime is required throughout the year, especially at peak times. Position may be required to work at any campus at any time. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.

Grant Positions: Position will be terminated upon expiration of grant funding.
