UPMC CT Staff Technologist in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania


Purpose:Perform a variety of technical procedures. Provide quality patient care and imaging acquisitions in a timely, cost effective manner to aid in medical diagnosis.Responsibilities:

Demonstrates proper placement of IV catheter and uses appropriate flow rates per procedure. Knowledgeable in specific uses for both oral and IV contrast. Demonstrates knowledge of and appropriately follows guidelines for GFR criteria. Demonstrates proper use of all CT scanners and injectors. Demonstrates the ability to accurately create both 3D and sagittal and coronal reformations per protocol. Provides diagnostic CT exams available for interpretation. Uses proper positioning and performs exams per protocol. Maintains sterile environment when appropriate. Maintains a safe environment by practicing all radiation safety policies and procedures. Verifies correct patient by utilizing at least two patient identifiers. Effectively prepares patient for exam providing both pre and post procedure education. Documents proper history into electronic record. Reviews physician orders before performing exam. Verifies that the order, physician name, and patient information are inputted correctly into the RIS. Consistently tracks each exam to completion and performs accurate charging of exams. Verifies accuracy of the exam before it is transferred to PACS. Verifies the entire exam is on PACS for physician review.


Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. Working knowledge of computers for technical and information processing requirements required. Good communication and interpersonal skills required.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CT advanced registry of ARRT is required within 18 months of hire date. Act 33/34/73 clearances required within 30 days of hire. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
