Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Telecommunications department provides immediate communication between hospital departments, physician offices, and the customer(s) using various means and services in an efficient manner to ensure the safety and welfare of our patients and staff. Telecommunications staff utilizes and monitor telephones, paging by public address system, cellular service and monitoring of emergency and informational systems while taking action when appropriate. Duties include; answering phones and directing calls, paging, mobile phone distribution, monitoring 9 emergency systems, contingency phones, phone switch, phone billing to physician offices, and vocera.

Role Purpose

Responsible for providing call center services by assisting internal and external callers in a professional and courteous manner.


  • Answers and directs all inquiries from patients, visitors, physicians and staff to appropriate locations using an online database and printed directories.

  • Answers incoming calls according to department guidelines.

  • Provides paging service.

  • Provides clerical duties, organizes and maintains records.

  • Ensures customers receive exceptional service through consistent performance, answering, directing and paging according to the customers request.

Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED


  • <2 years

Supervisor Experience

  • No Experience

Preferred Requirements


  • 2-5 years
