Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed full service hospital located in Columbia, MO. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 26 mid-Missouri counties. Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Boone Hospital Center has been certified as a "Magnet Hospital" by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Patient Care Administration provides support to all patient care staff in the hospital by coordinating the creation, approval and availability of all patient care policies and procedures, pre-printed physician orders and other communications. Support for all clinical areas related to regulatory compliance and process changes throughout the hospital is also provided. House Supervisors in the department provide administrative coverage for the entire hospital during all non-business hours. The Wound & Skin Nurse works consultatively with professionals throughout the hospital for the management of patient wounds and ostomies.

Role Purpose

Provides support for the development of structures and processes that promote professional nursing practice. Evaluates and collaborates for the improvement of professional practice systems (standards, policies, procedures, staff orientation, education, training, competency review, career ladder, Shared governance, peer review) to elevate the practice of nursing resulting in enhance patient care delivery and regulatory compliance.


  • Promotes professional nursing practice at every level of the organization.

  • Supports the development, implementation and sustainment of evidence-based practice standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Supports and coordinates a performance improvement process to promote exceptional clinical outcomes while ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

  • Develops and implements strategies to ensure readiness for any reviews by regulatory agencies.

  • Provides education, coaching and assistance to project leaders through the regulatory and accreditation process, methodologies and tools.

  • Bachelor's Degree
