Job Description The Sr. Network Engineer plays a critical role in the design, planning, implementation, documentation and troubleshooting of a large commercial network.

As the Sr. Network Engineer, you will design, plan, implement, document and troubleshoot the Serco-CMS core and access networks, with particular emphasis on network architecture, outage response and resolution, equipment selection and configuration, and the application of new technologies to network deployment.

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

•Response and resolution of network and service outages

•Recommend, quote and implement required network servers and software.

•Connect diverse systems to the network. (Windows (All versions), VMware, OS400, Linux, MPE/IX).

•Setup and support networks at all the locations.

•Recommend and help setup control system networks.

•Monitor network including servers for performance, reliability and security risks.

•Recommend, deploy, and monitor security software.

•Maintain hardware and routing operations through continuous engineering, development, and implementation.

•Recommend, quote, and implement network communication circuits (MPLS, Broadband, Fiber).

•Recommend and install disaster recovery strategies.

•Punctual, regular and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities As Appropriate for Position:

•Extensive knowledge of network technology theory, principles and practices.

•Knowledge of local and wide area network systems.

•Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications.

•Knowledge of network security requirements and disaster recovery procedures.

•Strong working and troubleshooting knowledge of routing protocols like - OSPF, BGP

•Strong troubleshoot circuits and networking technologies (WAN, LAN, Internet).

•Experience with switching technologies/ concepts - like STP, VLANs, VTP, VDCs

•Experience in implementing, configuring, and supporting complex network infrastructure, including WAN circuits, virtualization, Internet connectivity, cloud services, and VPN technologies such as IPSEC required.

•Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures.

•Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals.

•Ability to plan, organize, meet schedules and time lines for assigned work.

Required Skills •Demonstrated engineering experience on large scale/enterprise level core backbone network.

•Any combination of experience and education which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

•Certification and/or experience working in an ITIL or IT Service Management environment preferred.

•Advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP/CCIE) are highly desirable but not required.

•Four years of progressively responsible experience with network systems, telecommunication systems and data management.

•Four year college degree in computer science, computer engineering or closely related field and two years' experience in project leadership and/or supervisory experience is required.
