Job Description Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; nonroutine work may also be reviewed in progress. Performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as: Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts; may service or repair simple instruments or equipment. Conducts a variety of tests using established methods. Prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, and records test data, pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors. Extracts engineering data from various prescribed but nonstandardized sources; processes the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry; presents the data in prescribed form. Applicant performs a variety of tasks to include the fabrication and assembly of various electromechanical and electronic assemblies. Installation experience should include the moving and un-crating of equipment, the installation of electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, high density cable connectors, assembling cable harnesses, soldering with low voltage soldering devices, coaxial connectors, and assembling small mechanical parts per fabrication/assembly drawings. Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher level technician, and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Applicants must be certified in “Multi-pin” Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA) and be proficient NAVSEA Standards Items to include 009-22 & 009-73.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation and the like and with equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death. Applicant must be willing to travel to various work sites such as San Diego, CA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL & Yokosuka Japan. Applicant must be willing to work second or thirds shift as needed. Applicants also must be willing to work more than 40 hours work weeks. They must be willing to carry more than 50 lbs while climbing dry dock stairs and ladders to access ships in various shipyards.

Required Skills High school diploma required plus 2-4 years of experience.

Department Our services in the Defense business unit support all branches of the U.S. military and the intelligence community. Our teams provide a variety of support services related to the maintenance and life cycle sustainment of US Navy, US Coast Guard and Customs and Border Patrol fielded C5I systems.
