Cardno is seeking an Interior Designer in our Charlottesville, VA office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Direct team members (employees and consultants) at all levels of contract administration
Control any number of projects at various stages of work
Consults with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding programming, space planning, design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
Plans layouts of projects and integrates engineering elements into unified interior design for client review and approval
Check a set of drawings and prepare feedback
Detail any type of interior. Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts
Administers interior construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
Prepares studies and reports
Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment
Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specifications documents
Requirements Basic qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and/or Masters Degree- Architecture, minimum of 10 years related experience in planning, assessment and program development. Virginia License for Commercial Interior Design (design and/or CM related credentials a plus), experience with Federal Agency/DoD planning and budget contracting procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
Ability to use extensive working knowledge of all paperwork procedures necessary to complete the contract documents to obtain permits and prepare for construction.
Ability to use working knowledge of all consultant work to maintain efficiencies and meet deadlines. Possess an in depth understanding of the basics of most building systems.
Ability to operate a PC workstation to generate and review computer aided drafting (CAD) and related MS Office software- Word, Excel.
