Per Diem RN for GI Surgery Acute Care Unit - 4 Anderson North

This is a 20-bed unit with patient populations including but are not limited to: Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, bariatric surgery, and other complex GI surgery patients. This team pursues excellence in patient care, education and research and the medical teams are nationally recognized for their innovative and advanced surgical procedures and treatments for gastrointestinal disease. This unit is also proud to represent UNC Hospitals as the Innovations Unit identifying opportunities to provide better, faster and more affordable care for more patients.

We also care for overflow patients from other units on the acute care surgical units and occasionally overflow from the acute care medicine units. Prior medical/surgical experience is preferred, but not mandatory.

This unit also practices under the Partners in Practice Model where one RN and one NAII care for a group of 6 patients. This team-based approach decreases the fragmentation of care delivered to patients, increases communication and collaboration between the RN and NAII and enhances their ability to fully use their knowledge and skills.

* * This is a per diem/at will position, requiring the ability to work a minimum of 12 hours every two weeks and one summer and one winter holiday each year. There are no benefits associated with this position.

Qualifications

Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing and one year of nursing (RN) experience. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing and have current Healthcare Provider or BLS Provider certification.
