Southern California Alcohol and Drug Programs, Inc. (SCADP) was established in 1972 in a grassroots effort by community volunteers seeking alternatives for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). SCADP is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization providing more than 500 residential treatment beds and outpatient counseling to over 1,500 individuals.
SCOPE OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Program Manager for the Court Ordered Services of Southern California Alcohol & Drug Programs, the Group Facilitator for the agency’s Court Ordered Services will facilitate Alcohol & Drug Education and/or Life Skills groups. Expected to guide and motivate group participants through various group topics related to Alcohol and Drug Education for the growth and development of all group participants.
• Maintain knowledge of addiction treatment strategies and conduct group education sessions on AOD awareness, relapse prevention, anger/stress management, life skills, risk behaviors and other topics related to recovery from substance abuse; • Adequately document and chart group education sessions clearly and concisely; • Interact with staff and treatment participants, providing guidance and assistance as per program rules and procedures; • Maintain an orderly and effective office/working environment for the entire program • Other tasks assigned by Program Manager
• Registered as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor with a State of California Accredited agency and 2 years experience in related treatment services. • Experience with DUI and group facilitation • Knowledge of the disease of alcoholism/drug abuse. • Culturally competent/sensitive, insightful and caring. • Minimum 2 years sobriety if recovering.
Must be a Registered/Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor by a State of California accredited agency
Must be Bilingual - Spanish/English
Lines of Authority:
This position reports to the Program Manager, who will supervise the duties and job performance.
