Position Overview

Assist company personnel in obtaining parts and supplies, including pick-up and delivery in a company vehicle. Maintain purchasing, inventory, and repair records, filing of paperwork, and office related tasks as assigned. Job duties will include minor yard/office repair and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Fill out necessary paperwork for maintaining inventory, ordering, and repair records.

  • Answer incoming phone calls and take messages as necessary.

  • Computer input and processing of purchase orders, work orders, parts information and inventories.

  • Coordinate daily operations for department mail delivery, parts runs, etc.

  • Communicate with Parts Supervisor regarding issues of pricing, suppliers, service, and department personnel.

  • Run errands for parts, supplies, etc. for department when parts runner is busy or absent.

  • Run forklift to unload incoming and load outgoing shipments.

  • Assist drivers, mechanics, laborers, etc. in locating parts and supplies.

  • Complete minor yard maintenance tasks as assigned.

  • Process and generate purchase orders through company purchasing software system.

  • Maintain current vendor relationships, practicing discernment and awareness of pricing and availability of purchased goods.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • One year parts and inventory experience preferred.

Work Requirements

  • Ability to understand & carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and telephone skills required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to perform work efficiently utilizing a P.C. and windows based software such as Excel, Word, and internet based programs.

  • Must have a good driving record
