Philips Service Information Architect/Technical Writer (HSDP) in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Service Information Architect/Technical Writer will create technical service manuals for supporting and maintaining the products of the HealthSuite Digital Platform. Types of documents generated include: user manuals, reference guides, release notes, knowledge articles, customer application notes/technical tips, service guides, and white papers. May also perform peer editing according to Philips style guides. Other duties include: teaming up to excel by sharing knowledge and assisting other team members during peak loading periods; participation in relevant cross-functional meetings; taking ownership by developing system knowledge through hands-on work and observation; track and communicate status and issues to management appropriately; and being eager to win by complying with internal and external regulatory and compliance requirements.

Requirements (Key Areas of Responsibility)
• Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits service and instructional documents that conform to the company documentation and quality system standards. Tracks the status of each document through to release and publication.
• Researches and translates technical information into manuals or documents for nontechnical and technical users, publication, or multimedia or web-based deliverables.
• In some cases, this will also involve hands-on work such as running software and test scripts to determine the best way to perform to train, deploy, support, and maintain.
• Reviews internal project documentation and participates as part of the product release team.
We are looking for
BS or BA degree in writing composition/communications/library sciences or a combination of equivalent training and experience (5-8 years minimum) in writing documentation
Requires project management and excellent writing skills.
Should have complete working knowledge of a desktop publishing/technical communications program, illustration software, (for example Framemaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Professional), HTML tagging or structured authoring (content management), a graphics program, MS Office products.
Candidates must have information gathering experience interviewing engineers, observing product usage, searching other technical documents and interpreting engineering drawing
Evidence of successful completion of at least one set of documentation of a project (Service Information Design and Publications; Service Innovations; etc)
Ideal candidates will have experience preparing technical manuals for loading complicated software packages, experience in technical customer support or providing documentation for service personnel.
Working knowledge of Unix, PC, and/or .NET operating environments, web design, Adobe InDesign or similar, and how to write for translation a plus.
Experience working within a regulated and/or healthcare industry.
