We are seeking an exceptional, self-motivated, seasoned individual to participate in the growth of our Clinical Informatics Solutions and Services group for diagnosis and treatment selection, workflow optimization, quality management and clinical validation of results.
You will lead and participate in various research-related activities around cardiology informatics, focusing on research, development and evaluation of first-of-kind algorithms and prototypes for helping cardiologists make better and informed decisions, improving patient care and optimizing clinical workflows.
As the Senior Cardiology Informatics Scientist you will:
Research, design, develop and evaluate first-of-kind cardiology informatics solutions to provide clinical decision support, improve clinical workflow and care coordination, optimize patient outcomes and demonstrate cost-effectiveness;
Apply your technical knowledge in clinical data processing, pattern recognition and machine learning and combine it with your deep clinical knowledge to research innovative informatics solutions, develop new concepts, and build demonstrators.
Lead a team of research scientists and software engineers per project plan.
Interact with clinical customers to understand their problems, share insights and best practices, and validate prototypes of solutions to assess their value in patient care.
Partner with Philips businesses to deliver innovations in a timely and high-quality manner.
Help build and lead collaborative relationships with external partners, scientific community, and governmental resources.

We are looking for
The successful candidate brings/has:
Ph.D. or equivalent in Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science/Informatics, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 5+ years of relevant experience in the domain of informatics in cardiology;
5+ years research experience in the design, development, and evaluation of clinical decision support applications;
3+ years of experience leading research project teams
Experience in employing information retrieval and extraction techniques, natural language processing, machine learning, and knowledge management methods within clinical systems;
Expertise in the use of controlled clinical terminologies and ontologies (UMLS, SNOMED, ICD, RadLex etc);
Understanding of clinical workflow and systems, with an emphasis on cardiology workflows, developed through experience in working with care givers in clinical environments;
Understanding of the business and economic considerations associated with healthcare innovation.
First author publications in related journals/conferences;
Taking ownership, driving for results, and team-player;
Flexible and quick-learner;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
In addition, the following skills and experience would be a plus:
Hands on experience with health information systems (EMR,PACS, HIS/RIS, CathLab XperIM, etc);
Experience working with Big Data technologies (e.g.,database warehousing principles, NoSQL, Hadoop, MapReduce etc);
Experience with relevant data analytics/visualizationtools such as Matlab, R or Tableau/qlikview/spotfire;
Experience in health care data and communication standards (HL7; DICOM);
