Job Overview

Reporting to the area maintenance manager, utilities, you will be responsible for the day to day maintenance plan including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on utilities systems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and revise maintenance procedures and asset strategies in collaboration with the reliability team

  • Analyze, approve, and schedule emergency and break-in maintenance while adjusting scheduled work plan accordingly

  • Collaborate with operations and the maintenance planning and scheduling teams to prioritize, schedule, and resource all maintenance work

  • Collaborate with maintenance shared services team and area supervisors to onboard, prepare and provide contract personnel and services to utilities team

  • Provide feedback to maintenance planning and reliability teams to improve the effectiveness of maintenance strategies and procedures

  • Monitor maintenance Key Performance Indicators, report deviation from targets, and develop corrective actions

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five years of supervisory or maintenance coordination experience in oil sands, utilities, petro-chemical, pulp and paper, or other similar heavy industrial environment

  • Experience working on large oil and gas projects in collaboration with project management, commissioning and start-up, and ready for operations teams is an asset

  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Certificate in a mechanical or electrical discipline or a degree in engineering

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of gas turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators, boilers, large process water pumps, fired heaters, air compressors, diesel generators, water treatment plants, heat exchangers, cooling towers, transformers, variable frequency drives, switchgear, relays, and associated piping, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems

  • You are competent in the use of at least one industry standard enterprise resource planning system; SAP is preferred

  • You collaborate well with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value; strong communication skills are required

  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems

Working Conditions

  • Position may initially be based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre and will then transition to a camp-based position at the Fort Hills site in early 2017

  • While in Calgary, the working schedule will be Monday to Friday, but will transition to a site-based shift schedule of seven days on/ seven days off
