Key responsibilities include assisting in day to day activities at NY/NJ warehouses. Supporting Sr. Quality Manager and Food Safety & Food Quality Manager with collaborating with vendors on root-cause investigations regarding product deficiencies and overseeing vendor compliance on various documents required relating to food safety programs & food quality programs. Responsibilities will include various activities related to ensuring vendors closely adhere to both the finished product quality standards and the expectations of the Boars Head Brand. Complete special projects as assigned by the Sr. QA Manager and Food Safety & Food Quality Manager. Analyze product returns and product in inventory to identify trends in quality issues. Communicate with distributors and internal colleagues to resolve issues.


  • Participates in product evaluations on finished products for acceptability.

  • Train personnel in the correct safety and cleaning methods in the deli.

  • Train personnel in the visual inspection of our BH Products.

  • Follow up on customer complaints to ensure our current inventory isn’t compromised.

  • Coordinate the communication process for when product is either placed on hold and/or released.

  • Review and organize vendor QA related documents to ensure compliance to BH expectations (i.e. annual GFSI audit reports, CAPAs, Nutritional Documents, COAs, Allergen forms, any other claims, etc.), as applicable.

  • Perform sanitation inspections of warehouse & deli areas for cleanliness.

  • Ensure facility is inspection ready for regulatory inspection (i.e. FDA, USDA, State Dep’t of Agriculture).

  • Prepare reports on inspection findings and incidents.

  • Lead and coordinate the personnel who perform the inspecting.

  • Evaluate reports and other documents to identify distribution and/or supplier issues.

  • Collect, evaluate and send samples to outside labs for product analysis.

  • Communication with plants on Quality and customer issues.

  • Monitor Distributor returns and credits for trends.

  • Enter Distributor Concerns into Everest complaint system and ensure a follow up call is given to distributor.

  • Any other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a food science or related discipline; one (1) to three (3) years of work experience. A mixture of education and experience equivalent to the above may substitute.

  • Must have excellent oral and written skills at a technical and general level.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within both a manufacturing and corporate environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

  • General math skills

  • Must be able to read and analyze process charts, graphs, and logs.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of statistical analysis.

  • Must possess sharpened analytical, logical and problem solving skills.

  • Must be HACCP trained or be able to attend a training course.

  • Serve Safe Manager Certification

  • SQF or any other GFSI Scheme certification desired.

  • Auditor Certification preferred (i.e. American Society for Quality – Certified HACCP Auditor, Certified Quality Auditor)

  • Must be able to lift overhead up to 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must possess sufficient senses to perform effective organoleptic evaluations (corrected sensory ability is acceptable). This includes visual (acuity and color differentiation), olfactory, gustatory, tactile, and auditory ability.

  • Must be able to work in both warm and cold environments.

  • Must be able to work in a meat, cheese or condiment processing environments (wet, presence of blood and meat juices, loud noises, various olfactory conditions, etc.)

  • Must be able to travel and assist in auditing venues with manager.

  • Travel is less than 40%.
