Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Security Support to join our team in Bristow (Gainesville), VA.
In this role, you will support the security department by providing general and specialized office support. General office duties will include: word processing, scheduling, expense reporting, filing, material transmittals and record keeping. Specialized duties will include maintaining badge and identification system, and personnel records in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS).
This current opening may be filled at this level or at one level higher.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
Under general supervision, the Security Support person will perform a variety of routine support tasks related to clerical support of an industrial security program.
40% - Records Management: The position will be responsible for ensuring that the department access control system of record is maintained by creating, removing and altering personnel records as needed. The candidate will monitor human resources generated lists to ensure that new access requests are received and that old records are removed when no longer required. This individual will develop and maintain a department command media repository. The command media repository will retain documents that materially support the security department during compliance reviews. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the following department records: lock and key, container, release request, foreign travel, foreign visit and other records as required.
15% - Department Business Management support: Program calendar support and travel arrangements; expense report, purchase orders, and purchasing card reconciliation as requested. Coordination of office supplies and support needs for office tools and other duties as assigned.
15% - Personnel Security Operations: This individual will become familiar with the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and support the security department in transmitting and receiving visit requests.
10% - Serve as the primary point of contact for printing and distributing corporate identification badges to Aerojet Rocketdyne east coast facilities.
10% - Information Management Support: This individual will support the security department with material preparation to include, receipt, dispatch and tracer activity.
5% - Proofread written correspondence and presentations, detailed reviews of classified material dispatches for proper markings. Researches information and reports findings to management and co-workers.
5% - This individual will become familiar with the enterprise EZ lobby system and acknowledge visits to the facility as needed. In addition, may be required to perform receptionist duties.
Ability and willingness to from time to time to support Operations at our Orange site.
Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and two (2) years of directly related administrative support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (US Citizenship required).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel and Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment.
Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and initiative.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Effectively schedule and prioritize work assignments.
Exercise some independent action within predetermined limits.
Interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
Knowledge of filing systems and the ability to file including maintaining the department's record keeping and business correspondence.
Knowledge to create business memos and writing using the rules of grammar, good sentence structure, correct punctuation and spelling.
Ability to perform tasks in a fast paced changing environment is a must.
Ability to obtain other government imposed favorable access determinations is also essential.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time primarily to support Operations at our Orange site.
Desirable candidate will have a general knowledge of security department operations and familiarity with National Security Information classification terminology.

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
