The Associate, Quality Control Review Appraiser is responsible for regional level appraisal services provided by Residential Appraisal Services (RAS) and reports to the Quality Control Manager. The Review Appraiser is a subject matter expert (SME) with decision making capacity, post appraisal review and analysis expertise. Ensures quality control of all appraisal reports, escalations, complex reports, and alignment to all regulatory and GSE guidelines. Conducts pre-delivery reviews based upon logical analysis and sound judgment for the primary purpose of determining report quality and compliance with regulatory guidelines. The Reviewer will be responsible for effectively coaching vendors and appraisers regarding commonly accepted appraisal practices, and working to resolve valuation discrepancies in a timely manner to provide the most reliable and well supported value recommendation possible. This position requires multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize and work in a fast pace environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform reviews of residential (one- to four-unit) appraisal assignments utilized by the Bank for making residential real estate-related business decisions, particularly lending decisions.

  • Review appraisal assignments for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Render value opinions when required.

  • Maintain the quality and consistency of appraisal assignments performed by fee panel appraisers.

  • Review appraisal assignments on a post-fund quality control basis.

  • Recommend to the Quality Control and Production Manager the addition, removal, or status changes of fee appraisal firms on the fee panel. .

  • Recommend to the Management the fee appraisers to be placed on watch or ineligible status.

  • Assist the Quality Control Manager in maintaining the timeliness and quality of appraisal assignments performed by fee panel appraisers.

  • Review fee panel appraisers within the Regional Reviewer's specified region as to meeting due dates and quality.

  • Recommend to the Management appropriate action for fee panel appraisers that consistently miss due dates or provide substandard reports.

  • Provide support to internal Bank customers and fee panel appraisers.

  • Answer questions from internal Bank customers and fee panel appraisers relating to specific appraisal assignments or policy and procedures.

  • Provide support to other Regional Reviewers as work volume and absences dictate.


  • Minimum five years residential real estate appraisal and review experience

  • Prior appraisal experience with a financial services institution

  • Licensure by the State in which you are hired to complete reviews as a Certified Residential Appraiser.

  • Ability to work and meet deadlines, plan and coordinate multiply projects at the same time.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills speaking and writing clearly and persuasively

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Extensive knowledge of all relative appraisal and industry guidelines

  • Maintain professional business relationships with client, vendors and internal staff and understand the importance of timeliness

  • Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel

  • Knowledge of FNC’s, CMS platform
