Description The Schepens Eye Research Institute/Massachusetts Eye and Ear, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, has an opening for Research Assistant I. This full time position will work at least 50% of the time with an Investigator to develop a research project in a highly stimulating and dynamic environment. The individual will also perform lab managerial duties in a midsize laboratory including overseeing the laboratory’s animal colony, ordering supplies, and maintaining animal protocols and laboratory databases. This position will perform and coordinate a wide range of specialized laboratory tests and procedures including tissue analyses, cell culture and molecular and cellular biology.
Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in science with relevant experience is required. Experience in molecular biology, tissue culture, animal handling, tissue harvesting, histological analyses will be preferred. Demonstrated organizational and communications skills are essential and ability to work as part of a team. Experience in ophthalmology research and high level of independence would be highly desirable. Minimum commitment of 2-years is required with a start date in the Summer, 2016.
