Description The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for the successful execution of HR strategies and for serving as the single point of contact for our research area, which became the world's largest vision and hearing research center after uniting with Schepens Eye Research Institute in 2011. The successful HRBP will act as an employee champion, change agent and business partner ensuring alignment of business needs with HR services to support the area. The HRBP understands the overall needs of research and specific areas of focus and proactively implements HR strategies to support the management of resources and attainment of goals. The HRBP is also responsible to drive for results and utilize metrics that enhance organizational effectiveness, managerial capability, talent development and succession planning within the research area. The HRBP will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding and retaining staff, employee relations management, training, organizational development and HRIS processes. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and research community, the HRBP seeks to develop and implement integrated HR solutions. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the research area. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the research core business, its resourcing needs, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition. The HRBP should have experience in a research setting, be capable of interacting with all levels of the area, including leaders, faculty, scientists and staff, and have a solid understanding of immigration requirements.
8-10 years HRBP or Sr. Generalist experience. PHR/SPHR preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
HR experience in healthcare and/or higher education, preferably within an organization with a research function.
Demonstrated and hands-on experience in organizational development, employee relations, talent management, compensation and performance management.
Strong Business Acumen and working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines; including but not limited to compensation, benefits, talent/performance management, employee engagement, reward and recognition principles and federal and state respective employment laws.
Comprehensive knowledge of strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, talent development, succession planning and leadership effectiveness.
Ability to translate business vision and strategy into an executable HR and business goals.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment.
Able to command respect at all levels of the organization, capable of highly-independent work as well as being a team player and role model
Excellent verbal and written skills, able to lead open and effective dialogue and able to craft and deliver compelling messages internally.
Demonstrated track record of proactively suggesting new alternatives to current HR practices, anticipating and developing both strategic and tactical HR plans and programs to accomplish the area/department mission
Experience in most or all of the functional areas associated with this position; excellent management, negotiating and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to achieve results.
High energy level, a driving sense of urgency and a seasoned “make it happen/can do” orientation. Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills developing, building and maintaining strong business partnerships
Proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization, particularly senior management.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
