Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Data Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

Description Under the direction of the Center for Quality & Patient Safety leadership team, the Data Analyst will facilitate the accessibility, understanding, and active use of data required to improve the quality of care, patient safety, service, and related outcomes throughout Mass. Eye and Ear (MEE). The Data Analyst will provide support for the organization’s Quality & Patient Safety program and assist with the RL Solutions system. The Data Analyst will have a foundation in the functions of patient safety, quality, data collection and analysis. The Data Analyst is a customer service oriented position that serves the information needs of clinicians, administrators and staff throughout MEE. The individual will possess excellent interpersonal skills, maturity, and project management skills. Knowledge of software applications (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point), and knowledge of the electronic medical record system is integral to the position. Additionally, the Data Analyst must display initiative with problem solving and work in a coordinated, aligned manner with the staff of the department and the organization, the medical staff, risk manager, and institutional leadership

Requirements Bachelor degree in related field required. Minimum 2 years of experience in a position focused on the delivery of numerical data to a wide variety of customers. Understanding of the data cycle and ability to collect, analyze, and present data Familiarity with medical terminology, data cycle and health care records required. Computer skills are required. Familiarity with RL Solutions program Epic experience preferred. Advanced proficiency use of desktop productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to use Access, SQL or similar analytic tools Technical capacity to learn new data systems and analyze large data sets Ability to organize, synthesize and analyze large amounts of information Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver required products in a timely manner Excellent organizational skills Detail oriented with a commitment to producing analytic product that consistently meets the highest standards of accuracy. Ability to understand and meet the information needs of clinical and administrative customers Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment. Strong verbal and written skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, administrator and a wide-variety of non-technical staff. Ability to explain data analysis to non-technical audiences
