Philips Procurement Engineer (m/f) in Boeblingen, Germany
In this position, you will be responsible for aligning the Commodity and Business strategies identifying and driving projects to reach defined cost reduction and risk mitigation goals. This includes working with R&D, Material Engineering and Marketing to identify clear specifications and requirements and working with suppliers to assure the most appropriate suppliers are selected and developed for the monitors developed and produced on site. You will lead the supply base consolidation, the suppliers risk mitigation effort and the procurement quality initiatives. You will be mainly responsible mechanical parts and assemblies used in our monitors.
Improve the design decision making by collecting and presenting necessary data to relevant stakeholders
Support price negotiations with fact-based information and opportunities to drive
Short term product cost reduction improvement
Support the deployment of early supplier involvement through target costing and
Tracking for assigned product or module
Lead the development of an effective set of cost models to track “target cost” status for assigned product
Maintain updates to the costs for assigned product/module and ensure that cost models are up to date and information is available as required
Develop landscape and technology roadmaps that support the Business needs
Provides input to make or buy analysis as required
Supports the in/outsourcing process (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp-up)
Provides input to the Commodity Teams regarding the supply base characteristics based on business requirements
Execute and support phase in – phase Out (PIPO) planning related to new product introduction
The Procurement Engineer may act as Supplier Account Manager assigned by, and under the delegated responsibility of the relevant commodity team
Identify opportunities in the new product design process through target costing, and managing cost drivers and data sources to improve the design decision making
Support price negotiations with fact-based information and opportunities to drive short and/or long term product cost reduction improvement
Support the deployment of early supplier involvement through target costing and tracking for assigned product
Owner for delivering the cost elements for assigned product, as required improving total cost of ownership for the cost roadmaps for key products
Analyze cost trends, develop and review cost forecasts
Maintain updates to the cost drivers for assigned product and ensure that information is available as required
The Procurement Engineering Team works with a worldwide supply base and our global Business Innovation Units (BIU’s) to help ensure the most appropriate suppliers’ strategy is defined and implemented. The team leads projects which require creating a supplier & sourcing management strategy a new product introduction.

We are looking for
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent
Experience in Mechanical Engineering
R&D background (min 3 years) and/or strategic sourcing experience (min. 5 years) required
Effective communications and listening skills, both within and outside of departmental boundaries
Fluent in English and ability to communicate in German is also required
Skills to use various IT Applications are a benefit (e.g. SAP, MS Office Applications)
Strong analytical and independent problem solving skills
