Philips Materials Engineer (m/f) in Boeblingen, Germany

Your challenge

In this position, you will be responsible for the control and management of purchased components throughout the supply chain. This includes working with R&D to identify clear specifications and CTQ’s on drawings and working with suppliers to assure that these specifications are continually met and controlled. You will lead investigation teams when non-conformances are encountered. This position will be mainly responsible for electrical cables, cable-connector assemblies, wire harnesses, patient cables, catalog-/ custom-connectors and connector assemblies. You work closely with contract suppliers.

You should have the following experience in Supplier Management, Supplier Quality, Class 2 and 3 medical device compliance, project management, Material Cost analysis and reductions, vendor validations and process development.

Your responsibilities

  • Partner with suppliers in new product and new process development

  • Develop control plans to maintain product quality at suppliers

  • Travel to supplier and Philips entities in support of issues related to projects, programs, and special circumstances

  • Work with Suppliers to maintain current configuration management of components.

  • Work with the Supplier Quality Engineer in oversight of supplier quality/yield performance; drive improvement activities/programs

  • Support SQE and Production, Current Product Engineering, Support/Test Engineering, quality investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions related to supplier’s processes

  • Create Inspection Plans for Receiving Inspection and manage disposition of non-conforming material in MRB

  • Provide input to Supplier Assessment reviews

  • Material Cost:

  • Propose and support material cost reductions through competitive quoting, re-sourcing, make-versus-buy, negotiations, process efficiencies, and design changes

  • Lead cross-functional material cost reduction projects

Your team

The Materials Engineering Team works with a worldwide supply base and our global Business Innovation Units (BIU’s) to help ensure high quality purchased materials. The team leads projects which require creating a supplier & sourcing management strategy, new product introduction material setup, device master record design controls for design changes, supplier quality and material cost strategy.

We are looking for

The successful candidate will have solid experience with project management, experience with contract manufactures of cable/connector design and development, statistical/analytical quality methods and tools, qualification of contract suppliers.

In addition:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent (Desired experience in Cable/Connector Engineering)

  • minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Project Management and Professional Certification and experience (Desired);

  • Medical device manufacturing experience (Desired);

  • Skills to use various IT Applications (e.g. SAP, eDMR, MS Office Applications);

  • Strong analytical and independent problem solving skills
