Translate what you learned from your college textbooks into a rewarding accounting career by starting as an Associate Accountant. In order to succeed in this position, you will:

  • Apply cash accounting principles to a basicclient and property portfolio.

  • Complete basic level accounting transactionsin preparation of client financial statement packages.

  • Create and post journal entries.

  • Ensure that all expenses, receipts, owner's distributions,funding requests and other transactions for the accounting period have beenaccurately posted.

  • Generate and review financial packages foraccuracy and comprehensive reporting.

  • Prepare packages on a schedule to ensuretimely delivery to the client and other management teams.

  • Adhere to Real Estate Accounting Policies andProcedures (REAPP) to ensure internal and external reporting requirements areconsistently met.

  • Review and audits funding and paymentrequests for accuracy, documentation and authorization in accordance withestablished operating procedures.

  • Respond to and resolve issues and requestsfrom management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues andreports, including Profit and Loss statements.

  • Research open accounting issues and recognizepotential issues and/or conflicts so corrective action can intercept andminimize issues.

  • May participate in budget and forecastingfunctions for assigned property portfolio.

  • Coordinate work with other team memberswithin single point-of-contact (SPOC) guidelines. Performs other duties asassigned.

  • No formal supervisory responsibilities inthis position.

  • May provide informal assistance such astechnical guidance and/or portfolio-specific training to coworkers.


To be considered for an Associate Accountant position at CBRE, you will need:

  • Accreditation or degree from a two-yearprogram with emphasis in accounting or finance required plus a minimum of twoyears accounting or finance experience required.

  • Degree from a four-year college or universityprogram with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field preferred.

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, shortcorrespondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients,co-workers, and/or supervisor.

  • Requires a basic knowledge of Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulationsincluding a basic knowledge of financial terms and principles to includeaccounting methods (cash, accrual, and full GAAP).

  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions instandard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations.

  • Requires basic analytical skills.

  • Intermediate knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e.Microsoft Office Suite Products). Ability to work in multiple accountingsoftware applications.

  • Decisions made with general understanding of procedures andcompany policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
