(SCADP) was established in 1972 in a grassroots effort by community volunteers seeking alternatives for individuals with a substance use disorder (SUD). SCADP is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization providing more than 500 residential treatment beds and outpatient counseling to over 1,500 individuals.
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
SCOPE OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Program Manager for the Angel Step Too Program of Southern California Alcohol & Drug Programs, the Counselor provides substance abuse counseling specific to target population, as well as individual case management. The treatment Counselor will conduct bio-psycho-social needs assessment; individual, group, and family treatment sessions; substance abuse, health education, and life skills training. Other tasks as needed will be assigned by the Program Manager. The Counselor will maintain appropriate data logs to record service delivery and outcomes.
• Coordinate program services under the direct supervision of the Program Manager and provide supervision of services in the absence of the Program Manager • Resolve daily client issues as they present and conduct individual counseling as needed • Facilitate life skills/education and other site specific groups • Chart groups and individual sessions • Coordinate access to SCADP services/community services for participants and provide advocacy as needed • Provide support for phones as needed • Attend monthly staff development training and weekly staff meetings • Review pass requests for appropriateness • Assist Program Manager with staff and volunteer training and scheduling • Other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
• Minimum 2 years experience in the provision of treatment services working with specific population • Minimum 2 years sobriety if recovering • Knowledge of substance abuse and family dynamics related to substance abuse • Ability to be culturally competent/sensitive, and relevant • Bilingual/bi-cultural (English-Spanish) desired • Computer and data reporting skill preferred • Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification by an approved accrediting organization • Must have knowledge of HIPPA standards; Documentation Standards; ASI and ASAM Assessments
Lines of Authority:
This position reports to the Program Manager, who will supervise the duties and job performance.
