About the Job

Solutions Architects (Security) are technical professionals, who employ industry vertical and technical expertise to diagnose customer business challenges and technical needs and prescribe solutions that address customer security needs.

They help scale Akamai’s global security expertise by establishing good tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP’s) for mitigating security challenges with Akamai solutions.

They would strive to drive consistency, scale capability, and grow security acumen in order to better serve customer needs.

In this role, you will partner closely field service and support personnel to acquire new customers, expand our positions within existing customers, drive consistency in Akamai’s global delivery of security solutions, and grow the Akamai business as it relates to Akamai’s Security portfolio of products and services.

You will support the field integrated account teams to engage on security issues throughout the customer lifecycle, providing our customers with insight into Akamai's security practices, technologies, and solutions.

You will work independently and with small teams in satisfying individual customer requests, including technical design, and product requirements.

This includes partnering with a cross-functional set of Akamai teams, including Sales, Engineering, Product Development, and Customer Care to address issues, develop understandings of customer requirements,

and satisfy customer security needs at every opportunity.

Akamai’s Professional Services team calls upon its Internet expertise to architect the optimal solution for the unique business and technical requirements of our customers. Through its proven methodologies and processes, this highly experienced team of consultants has implemented effective solutions for over 3,000 Akamai customers.


Work as a member of a security professional services team contributing to the technology-based solutions and consult on concept feasibility.

Own the technical components of a customer integration project including but not limited configuration, debugging, documentation, testing, and go live support.

Partner with Business Support, Sales, Engineering, Product Development and Customer Care to resolve issues that arise during customer trials, integrations, or post implementation support.

Accurately scope implementation timelines for integrations.

Identify technical risks and provide mitigation strategies.

Review configurations with other Professional Service team members to ensure quality and accuracy to requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Education: in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems or relevant engineering field, MS in CS/MIS preferred.

Fluency in English required.

Desired Qualifications

Industry recognized network and/or security technical certifications (CISSP, CISA, CCNP, etc.) a plus

3-8 years security experience in application security domain

Experience in implementing different security solutions such as web application firewalls, IDS, ModSecurity etc.

Fair understanding of UNIX and web development languages, methodologies, and/or architectures – HTTP, DNS, Perl, PHP, Shell Scripting, J2EE, .NET, C#, JSP, ASP, Tomcat, Apache.

Experience with TCP/IP network debugging with tcpdump or similar tools

Experience and good knowledge of security technologies, processes, and concepts such web application security, application layer firewalls, IDS/IPS, OWASP Top 10, stateful inspection, TCP/IP, cryptography, PCI DSS, different web application vulnerabilities, different attack vectors, vulnerability assessment and application penetration testing etc.
