Principal System Architect

Your challenge

We challenge you to support Philips Healthcare’s Hospital to Home (H2H) organization as a Principal System Architect. Our population is aging and more patients live with chronic disease. As demand for care in nontraditional settings grows, so does the cost and complexity of providing it. In this role you will define system architecture, technology platform and technology roadmaps for H2H, with a focus on Home Telehealth. will carry out free industrial research activities in specific, highly advanced technologies; to provide professional guidance to Scientists; to point out directions for future areas of research; to act as technological competence owner, determining and monitoring the relevance of his/her field of research for Philips, assessing the value of new developments in this field, and identifying new opportunities for Philips.

You will Report to the Sr. Director of Product Development (Line Manager), work closely with Solution Architects and Technical Leads in projects/programs and be a team member of the H2H Leadership team. Also, you will provide architectural consultancy in internal and external program initiatives, as well as have a lot of customer interaction.


  • You will team up with various people in the organization to align on a variety of initiatives:

  • Team up with peer System Architect and Solution Architect(s) to align on best practices and industry standards and disseminate to Development organization

  • Team up with peer Upstream Product Marketing Manager(s) for solution roadmap

  • Team up with peer Clinical Research Program Managers(s) for solution roadmap

  • Promote harmonized and shared infrastructure, applications, integration, and device technologies to reduce costs and improve information flows, while ensuring sufficient variation points per customer needs.

  • Drive alignment of IT strategy with industry interoperability standards such as SOA, HL7, IHE, and Continua.

  • R&D Liaison to the Corporate Technology Research projects and programs (Research Sounding board membership)

  • Stay up-to-date on customer needs and technology tools and standards, by ongoing market & technology research and by participation in relevant industry events

  • IPR strategy - inventory and generation

We are looking for

  • More than 10 years of hands-on working experience in software architecture, design and development.

  • More than 5 years working on large systems/platforms.

  • At least 3 years as a System Architect, managing product development and support, in full product life cycle.

  • Deep knowledge in Data Analytics and Content Management (specifically around text and video).

  • Intimate knowledge of working in the cloud including everything around privacy and security.

  • Clear understanding of Medical Device Regulations (ISO, MDB in Europe and FDA GMP).

  • Any specific knowledge on

  • Experience in setting up an implementation roadmap that has tied into other company initiatives. Guides leads, strategy and technology road map to accommodate everything H2H wants to do in terms of the market. Would set the guidelines for the organization.

  • Strong Team leadership and good Business Acumen

  • Must have excellent communication skills (English required) and be comfortable interacting with across functional teams and multi-location communications.

  • Comfortable in a high level position working with external organizations in the industry.

  • Must have a strong interest in having a big impact in healthcare and connecting the dots between care delivery and the home with remote telehealth as you will have the ability to be on the ground floor designing solutions that don’t exist right now.
