We are looking for a Sr. Underwriter I to join our teamSummary -Determines acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks and agrees on coverage within regulatory requirements, corporate product offerings and designated authority level.A typical day will include the following:
Determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specificcommercialinsurance risks and associated coverage. Negotiate and price business commensurate with authority and collaborate with regional manager as well as home office staff.
Maintains strong familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the commercial lines department.
Regularly conducts and takes lead role in agent/broker meetings as well as group presentations.
Drives regional and national product strategies within the local region and works closely with management, sales counterparts and claims personnel to achieve targeted results.
Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the insurance needs of customers.
Underwrites large, complex property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any relevant legal or economic factors regarding the property & casualty business line.
Participates on a team of underwriters and other staff to meet the property & casualty insurance and service needs of large multi-product customers.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment.
May accompany marketing representative or represent the company on appointments in assigned teritory.
Bachelor's Degree, CPCU prefered
At least 7-10 years underwriting experience with a carrier handling Commercial Package in a production-focused underwriting capacity.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to be detail oriented in a fast paced environment
