HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Nights w/Weekend Rotation in Austin, Texas


    The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs the daily routine/critical care and diagnostic procedures as ordered by the Physician. Further, the RRT is responsible for performing basic equipment maintenance, quality control measures and other administrative, technical, or miscellaneous relevant tasks as might be required.


    • Demonstrate knowledge, clinical application and indications for various Oxygen and Aerosol Therapeutic Regimens.

    • Demonstrate knowledge, clinical application and indications for Airway Pressure Therapy techniques

    • Demonstrate knowledge, clinical application and indications for Chest Percussion and Postural Drainage techniques.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and techniques of patient assessment, including auscultation and Pulse Oximetry.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and clinical application of the Volume Ventilators, both Invasive and Noninvasive Ventilation, will orient to Ventilator used at this facility in first 90 days.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and clinical application of CPAP and BIPAP.

    • Demonstrate ability to Suction airway via Endotracheal Tube and NTS.

    • Conduct and document Ventilator Checks at regular intervals assuring all relevant information is recorded.

    • Respond to Code Leos and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and safe practice of performing both Radial and Brachial Arterial Puncture, achieving a Radial Artery Puncture rate of at least 85%.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and safe practice of obtaining an Arterial Specimen via an Arterial Line.

    • Demonstrate appropriate Blood Sampling technique for all sample types on the IL GEM 3500 and 4000 Blood Gas Analyzers.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and competence of acquiring acceptable EKG tracings using both the GE and Philips EKG Systems.

    • Demonstrate knowledge and practical application of the EKG Data Management system, Epiphany (HeartSuite).

    • Achieve and demonstrate a working knowledge of Meditech including Lab, Order Entry and Nursing Modules as well as achieving a charting percentage of at least 98%.

    • Document Care Plans and patient / family education as required, achieving a completion rate of at least 95% for each.

    • Demonstrate Medication Safety initiative eMar by effective documentation and assurance of right dose, right patient, right time, achieving a 99% Scan Rate.

    • Demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.

    • Demonstrate working knowledge of AIDET and Key Words at Key Times providing exceptional care to every patient, every day with a spirit of warmth, friendliness and personal pride.

    • Check Outlook Email each shift worked for any critically important information. As a general rule, you are responsible for any actionable email if you have worked after the date/time email is sent to the group or you individually.

    • Perform other related duties as directed/required.



    Associate Degree from accredited Respiratory Care Program or equivalent.


    • RRT authority of National Board for Respiratory Care

    • RCP authority of Texas Medical Board

    • BLS authority American Heart Association

    • ACLS Authority American Heart Association within 90 days of hire


      • Minimum of one year clinical experience, which may have been during student clinical rotation.
