HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Speech Language Pathologist PRN in Augusta, Georgia
Position Summary:The Speech Pathologist functions as a member of the healthcare team. The purpose is to provide medically prescribed speech therapy programs in the hospital in accordance with national standards and administrative policies of the hospital. The goal is to enable patients with speech and language disorders, whether it is receptive or expressive, to communicate as effectively and clearly as possible. The goals is also to assist the physician with determining appropriate dietary feeding levels for patients with dysphagia and progress the level through the use of therapeutic techniques as appropriate.
The Speech Pathologist provides care to the following populations: Neonate Birth – 1 year Pediatric 1 year – 11 years Adolescent 12 years – 16 years Adult 17 years – 64 years Geriatric 65 - lifespan
Speech Therapy: Population Served Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Cardiac/cardiovascular, neuro, pulmonary, oncology, GI conditions and diseases including but not limited to: developmental delays, CVA/TIA, dysphagia; developmental delay, etc.
I. Minimum Requirements:Education:Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology. Must have completed Clinical Fellowship year after graduating from an accredited school. Licensure/Certifications:Current Georgia Speech and Language Pathology License. Must possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech and Hearing Association. BLS required upon hire. Experience:1 year experience required. II._Other requirements:_ _ _ · Outside relationships: Interacts with multiple community agencies and vendors. · Interaction with other departments: Works collaboratively with patients, families, and other departmental personnel on the healthcare team. · Budget: The SLP is expected to have a basic understanding of the departmental operating budget, and give recommendations to the Director regarding any capital equipment needs. · Assets controlled: Hospital equipment · Career path: May be considered for qualified positions within the hospital.
