Softworld, Inc is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer for a client of ours in Atlanta. This position is open to either Contract to Hire or long term contract and requires a minimum of a Secret Clearance. Description: Responsible for the Systems Engineer / BigFix Administrator to provide comprehensive patching, release, and operations support for enterprise systems.
Roles/Responsibilities: • Manage patching and software release distributions to servers and workstations; create and test packages prior to release. • Deploy approved release packages and break-fix solutions in accordance with all enterprise architecture and configuration, change, and release management policies and procedures. • Develop and maintain small software tools and custom scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve user access to self-service options. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required, and propose and implement changes aimed at continuous improvement. • Draft user communication and issue email notifications to key stakeholders and the user community regarding environment changes, patches, and outages, both planned and unplanned. • Experience supporting Windows, and Linux systems in a complex 24/7 enterprise environment • Experience using security tools for software distribution and reporting to include creating custom fixlets in BigFix and deploying OEM and custom fixlets and actions across the full enterprise and administering BigFix Web UI • Experience scripting solutions using PowerShell, Visual Basic, etc. • Knowledge of basic Windows command line executables and switches syntax * Experience creating and modifying Microsoft Installer (MSI) packages • Experience using the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to manage desktop and server deployments • Experience managing Active Directory and other directory services • Experience managing work using ticketing systems such as Remedy, RiskVision • Create and maintain OS standards • Automate deployment processes • Develop patching standards • Work with Microsoft and other vendors for issue escalation • Operate as the escalation point for issue resolution and customer escalations. • Develop server monitoring standards • Participate in the on-call rotation
Desired Certifications: • CompTIA (A+, N+, Project+, Security+, etc.), • ITIL v3 • Linux • Microsoft • IAT II certifications (CISSP, CASM, CEH, etc) Qualifications/Education requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant work experience required or at least 8 years of IT experience and at least 5 years directly related to the required area of expertise. Preferred skills: • VMWare experience • Experience with Active Directory infrastructure • Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, VBScript) • Knowledge of Exchange and Office 365 • Knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, Orchestrator is a plus
