Philips R & D Machinist / Model Maker in Andover, Massachusetts

Your Responsibilities:

This is a key and critical role within the ASRC Group at Philips Healthcare in Andover, MA. This is an opportunity to be part of a well-seasoned winning team that produces R&D prototypes, manufacturing tooling, and reliability test fixtures to supporting all medical product lines within Philips Andover. The model shop team is small in size but plays very important roles in ensuring products designed by Philips are of the highest quality. The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Extensive CNC-mill programming and operation experience; SolidWorks and CNC-controller experience is preferred

  • Demonstrated competence with Mastercam software tools

  • Excellent manual milling/turning skills

  • Experienced in machine and tooling setup, including creative and robust fixture techniques

  • Demonstrated prototyping skills that include finishing for showroom-quality parts

  • Experienced using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

  • Experienced in setup and operation tool room lathe, CNC mill and, Bridgeport / Prototrak, and grinder; 3D Printer experience preferred

Uses the 3D printer every single day --

  • Skilled in precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions

  • Experienced in fabrication techniques for sheet metal and woodworking components

  • Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings (Good working knowledge of GD & T)

  • Ability to inspect finished parts using various measurement techniques ( CMM experience a plus )

  • Must be a critical thinker with problem solving skills

  • Must have excellent time-management skills and be able to provide resource planning data including job duration estimation, capability needs, and tools

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Supports all company safety and quality programs

Your Profile:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and 5+ years of related experience and/or training (used to be called a tool and dye maker)

  • Highly passionate and positive infectious attitude who strives for high performance, product quality, and with attention to details

  • The ability to work well in a team and possessing the skills and the ability to work independently to get things done efficiently and timely

  • Demonstrated competence in methodical and effective troubleshooting. Excellent problem solving skills

  • Proficient in standard office computer tools: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
