UPMC Licensed Practical Nurse in Altoona, Pennsylvania

This casual position will work about 10-15 hours per week.


  • Demonstrate support of Agency mission and philosophy in delivery of services.

  • Endeavor to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction in the delivery of services to internal and external customers.

  • Maintain and protect patient and Agency confidentiality.

  • Participate in orientation, continuing education programs, clinical conferences, quality assurance and performance improvement activities.

  • Prepare equipment and materials for treatment, adhering to aseptic technique as required.

Assess the patient/family response to care.

Assist the patient in learning appropriate self-care techniques.

Observe and document patient, family and caregiver response to care.

Ensure communication of information, observations, nursing care and evaluation through reports, records and clinical conferences to appropriate team members.

Possess Agency equipment required to perform care tasks as outlined in patient plan of care and associated protocols.

  • Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.

  • Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.

  • Self assess educational needs and initiate plan to maintain and attain general and specialty clinical competencies

  • Supplement the nursing care needs of the patient as provided by the Registered Nurse and as specified in the plan of care in accordance with Agency policies, procedures and regulations that define scope of practice.

Provide services in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and regulations that define scope of practice.

Render assigned nursing care to patients, families and caregivers and perform nursing procedures and treatments as ordered.

Prepare clinical and progress notes documenting outcome of intervention.

Identify and report findings and health needs of patients, families and caregivers to the Registered Nurse.

Assist the RN and/or physician in performing specialized duties related to end-of-life care.

Assist the RN in carrying out the plan of care.


  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program.

  • Minimum of one year related work experience.

  • Experience in providing end of life care preferred.

  • Access to transportation in the Agency service area with valid Pennsylvania drivers license and auto liability insurance.

  • Licensed Practical Nurse

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

  • Driver's License

  • Automotive Insurance

  • Act 33 Child Clearance

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
