A Baccalaureate degree required. Master's degree in business administration preferred or some related business field (accounting, finance, marketing, management) and/or a Bachelor's degree in a business discipline with additional, equivalent job experience. (Consulting and/or Banking)
Good oral and written communication skills; proficiency in MS Office; good public speaking skills.
The Business Consultant (BC) works under the direct supervision of the Regional Director. The BC is responsible for all aspects of determining and meeting the needs of small business owners and potential small business owners in the development of action plan/business plan and/or loan package. The BC will meet clients that requests an appointment and will help generate clients through participation in Center LSBDC network activities. Such activities include, but are not limited to, training events and other public functions. The BC will maintain client records through maintenance of files and the CIC system. The BC will adhere to all policies and procedures as determined by the State Office LSBDC, Northwestern State University and the Regional Director. This position will also complete all other reporting and tasks assigned by the regional director to promote the mission of the SBDC.
